Spring has Sprung Long Weekends!

Spring is next week; the season between winter and summer is when temperatures start to rise. With the pleasant temps, it's natural to want to enjoy what the season offers. The season is known for its more affordable hotel rates, airfare, and sometimes gas prices. Spring is also associated with festivals celebrating food production. So what better way to enjoy springtime food is to travel to a cultural center near you? Since we're in beautiful Princeton, NJ, we will often highlight trips along the east coast. As we grow in our travel advisor experiences, we will be excited to bring you along on our adventures. We shoot all our videos and content on the Cannon M50. Below, we bring you three places to spend a long weekend if you have 3-4 days off. We adapted the travel suggestions from the US News & World Report.

Asheville, NC- This one is a little south for us. We'd need a four-day holiday to be able to enjoy the wonders of Asheville. But it is still on our list of places to see! The scenery is one of the first features of Asheville you will notice when you visit. In addition, visitors can hike the Blue Ridge, and there are many other activities for the outdoorsy type. The Adventure Center with treetop exploration is another place to consider getting your activity points. During the Spring, Asheville has temperatures that range from the 50s- 70s. There are many estate tours to explore, but none will compare to the Biltmore Estate. The majestic private home hosts the Biltmore Bloom Festival in April or May. Asheville has an outstanding downtown dining and culinary scene; while dining, you may come across one of the inspiring street performers. An active art scene and many vintage shops make Asheville a great place to be in Spring.

Our second location is beautiful Montreal, Canada, with many Spring activities that bring me back to my childhood. I remember distinctly walking on the cobblestone streets of my hometown in my Easter shoes. Then, after picking up my grandfather, we would visit the city park to see the new Spring tulips. Well, Montreal has all these nostalgic feelings. At Mount Royal, you can see the beautiful tulip blooms. For even more flowers and nature, visit the Montreal Botanical Garden, but you'll want to avoid this Montreal during their Patriot's Day celebrations unless you like big crowds. Regarding food, Montreal est le meilleur (the best)! Montreal is known for its poutine, bagels, and smoked meat sandwiches. To avoid the elements of Spring, explore the underground areas of this city. Old Montreal is a must-visit, but bring your big wallet because the eats are costly. We encourage visitors to grab an extra-strong beer or beverage, find a good spot to leave the car, and explore this vibrant city!

The last place on our list today is Boston, Mass! Always a favorite on our list to visit and enjoy. It is one of the largest and oldest cities in the northeast. Temperatures range from 47 to 60 degrees in Spring. Of course, we love it because it is a great food destination, but there are many activities to enjoy, like the Boston Freedom Trail, which is 2.5 miles, the Fenway Park tour, and Boston Common Park, which is particularly pleasant in Spring. Should you need to escape the elements of Spring in Boston, you can visit the New England Aquarium or Children's Museum. We've already talked about how public transportation can be one of the best ways to get acquainted with a place, so remember to try the Trolley Tours or Duck Tours. Lastly, if you are a history buff, a relaxing way to explore the oldest elements of Boston includes a visit to the USS Constitution. Beacon Hill has the cobblestone streets I think fondly of as well.

Each of these destinations offers many activities, history, and culinary delights. The nostalgic feeling I get when the Spring season begins is why I am considering visiting one of these locations. Travel time ranges from 5 to 10 hours from Princeton but will vary depending on your home location.
