Ship Tour: Oasis of the Seas
One of the perks of being a travel advisor is the opportunity to experience vacation destinations and ship tours. I'm excited to announce I had my first ship tour on one of the world's largest cruise ships, Oasis of the Seas! Five Oasis-class ships (Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Symphony, and Wonder of the Seas) are the largest cruise vessels. The tour was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Read on for more on the Oasis of the Seas by Royal Caribbean.
Tempting to Try it All
The Oasis of the Seas is overflowing with things to do. From the FlowRdier, the Bionic Bar, ice skating, or the games shows, when you book your cruise, there are ample activities to engage in. Have you ever ziplined? Try it, as each Oasis-class ship has a zipline over the Boardwalk neighborhood. The list of restaurants is vast, from 150 Central Park to Chops Grill for specialty locations to the complimentary Windjammer and El Loco Fresh. There are eight complimentary restaurants on board and seven signature dining locations. It's tempting to try it all, but with a ship this size (1,186 Feet long), it'll be essential to be strategic about your activity and dining choices. After booking a cruise, I like to understand everything about the ship to maximize my time onboard. My goals include having at least one specialty dining experience, attending shows, and hitting the dance floor. When all the activity and noshing concludes, you'll need a comfortable place to rest and relax.
Staterooms and Suites
There are four categories of rooms on the Oasis of the Seas. The first three categories- interior, oceanview, and balcony are the same, with varying access levels to the outside (no access, window, or balcony). They are like many of the cruise cabins you see on other ships. The beds are of decent size; there is ample storage, a couch, a vanity, and a bathroom. If you book a suite, the last category of room on the Oasis, the rooms are much larger and more luxurious. There are some suites with more oversized balconies with butler service with multi-levels. Suite guests can access a lounge, pool deck, and the complimentary suite guest dining room. One of the advantages of a mega-ship is you rarely want to spend time in your room.
Bars, Venues, and Entertainment
The entertainment on the Oasis of the Seas is of high quality. There are performers in the Royal Theater, including dancers, magicians, and musicians. There are ice-skating shows, adult-comedy, and game shows. The Oasis of the Seas is known for its Aqua Theater shows which are high-energy dancers, tightrope walkers, and divers. If you'd like a drink as you enjoy any shows or venues, there are five bars on the ship and four other venues, including a karaoke bar. I appreciate the shows on the Royal Caribbean ships, but my favorite ship location is on the pool deck.
Pool Deck
There are three pools and a kid's pool on the deck. There are water rides like the Aybss and two surf simulators. There are lifeguards at each pool. The pool deck can get crowded on a cruise ship, so it's a great place to people-watch, but finding a seat can be challenging. The sports court and mini golf are also on the pool deck. As you have read, there is no shortage of things to do on an Oasis-class ship. Equally as important is the service experienced on board. My guide was most knowledgeable and friendly for this ship tour, but I've also experienced the service onboard a Royal Caribbean ship as a guest.
Royal Service
The crew always strives to go above and beyond. The staff and team try to meet any request you may have and provide a consistently high standard of service. The children's programming staff are amiable, and it's nice to know Royal hires staff with experience and education working with children.
