Ship I Love- Water

Today, I'm pondering my love for water and cruising. Something about the water kissing the shore reminds me of my love for my husband, who introduced me to the romance of the sea. Many years ago, after our high school prom, David (my husband) drove us to a river's edge, and we spent the night talking. Read on to learn how this simple date night became a love of water and cruising.

Water brings people together.

Some scientists have found that we all have a "blue mind" that is meditative, bringing out a sense of calm, peace, and unity. People feel a general sense of happiness and satisfaction when around water. When we enjoy the seas and water with other people, the "blue mind" can be heightened. After all, it is our first home in utero. I had no idea my blue mind was active that prom night, but I remember a great sense of romance and healing from the moment that carries me on today. Do you ever wish you could run off to the beach or it would rain?

A Place to Escape

As soon as I'm not feeling well mentally, I want to run to water. It can be as simple as jumping in the shower, taking a ride to the beach, or walking along the river, but the tranquility that comes from seeing the movement of the water and hearing the sound is fantastic for my soul. When we started to grow our family, I immediately knew I wanted to take a Disney cruise for vacation. It was my way of dreaming up a great escape for my family and repaying David with that same sense of tranquility because he worked so hard to provide for our family. Water has a way of softening our attention. For example, the ocean offers negative ions, increasing oxygen flow to the brain. Several cruises later, I realized that I love being on the water! I have an improved sense of connection with the Earth and my family when I'm cruising.

Making the Connection

Speaking of connection, once I realized I keep running to water to recreate that one special impactful moment. I began to dive deeper into the benefits of water. I think about its vastness when I'm near water. How it moves from the mountains, through rivers, collected in lakes to the ocean, and these thoughts lower my cortisol levels. I feel more creative and increased happiness. The best feeling is overlooking the sea from a cruise deck surrounded by the waves' power, majesty, and calmness.

The bottom line is that water is a magical entity that can bring us recreation, food, and significant mental health benefits. Have you noticed the benefits of cruising?
