Manhattan Disney Cruise Port Embarkment Day
Disney Cruises can be an incredible adventure for individuals, couples, and families. Join us over the following few blogs as we unpack our journey on the Disney Dream from New York to Bermuda, Tortola, and Puerto Rico.
Our embarkment day was met with beautiful weather for November in the Northeast. Our driver navigated the traffic around the port in Manhattan to deliver us to the ship safely. The drive from Central Jersey was fast, even with NYC Marathon visitors in the area for the upcoming race. The longest we sat in traffic was when trying to take a left into the cruise port lane. If driving using GPS, remember not to navigate beyond the Disney Cruise porter's area.
The porters were easily accessible, and I recommended having your bags pre-tagged with the Disney Cruise luggage tags to ease the process further. There are two areas to drop luggage for those with and those without the pre-printed luggage tags. We quickly identified a porter by their vests, we lined up our suitcases, and after a service tip, we headed for the elevator. Our port arrival time was 12:40, and the entrance to the port accommodated all the passengers boarding at the same time as us without crowding. In error, we almost tried the elevators near the service area, so look for the large elevator facing the street in the Manhattan Cruise Port.
The elevator ride was smooth, with many happy cruisers aboard, and upon leaving the elevator, Disney port personnel greeted and directed us to the lines for the service desks. We continued along the corridors, passing staff members leading us. At one point, they separate the first-time cruisers from the return customers. We had a mix of both types of passengers, but they let our travel party remain intact. Disney does a great job keeping passengers happy and accommodating different families and travel configurations. The magic of embarkment day happens when you enter the ship's atrium. The welcome from the staff and other cruisers is unique to Disney ships.
